We are very pleased to report that just before this newsletter went to print, we achieved our contribution goal of $2,600 sent to Food for the Poor, Inc. for Haitian relief. This was made of scrap gold: your clasps and broken chain, single earrings: tiny parts of scrap that made a difference to our project. Originally, our goal was to build a home with the scrap money donated. However, after the last hurricane, we decided to send the balance of our "house" donation with a note to use wherever they feel the need is greatest. Whether it be a home, medical supplies, clean water, food, fishing tackle or a sewing machine many small pieces of scrap have certainly made a difference.
So, thank you all, from the heart. We will continue this indefinitely so if you have a small piece, stop in and add it to the jar with the yellow ribbon.
